Individual Therapy

Life keeps getting more complicated

You’re smart, hard-working, and always pushing yourself to be better. Overall, you’re successful. But something doesn’t feel quite right.

In some ways, the older you get, the less you have to struggle. But in other ways, life just keeps getting more complicated. More responsibilities. More stress. Adulting is hard.

Folks who are driven and successful often put a TON of pressure on themselves. Having a Type-A personality can help propel you forward, but perfectionism can also be limiting.

Fear of making a mistake might paralyze you and prevent you from taking any action at all. Holding others to a standard of perfection can make them seem endlessly disappointing and frustrating.

Are you living a life aligned with your values?

Individual therapy is an opportunity to take a pause each week to really think about what is filling you up and what is pulling you down.

What are your strengths? How can you build on them?

What do you love? How can you make room for more of that?

What are your needs? Are they being met?

Do you have any thought patterns or behaviors that are holding you back from feeling happy and at peace? Let’s find some alternatives to try.

How are your relationships? Is there any room for improvement there?

People are usually happiest when they are living a life that is aligned with their values. But often, people don’t have a crystal-clear idea of what those values are.

In therapy, we can identify your values, your strengths, and things you’d like to change. I’ll be a caring, objective person who supports you through difficult emotions, and I will also help you confront yucky things that you’d *cough* maybejustratherignore. Most of all, I’ll help you learn how to treat yourself with the same compassion you might usually reserve only for others.

My specialty is in helping folks repair their relationships and move past anxiety or trauma, but I see people with all different concerns in individual therapy.

Individual therapy can help relationships, too

Individual therapy is a great place to work on relationships. We’ll explore any problematic relationships you have, look for patterns that you see across your relationships, come to understand the roots of your interaction style, and come up with more effective ways of interacting for you to try. Trauma is any experience has left a lasting negative effect on you. It is common for traumatic events to impact people for many years. Individual therapy is a comfortable, consistent, and dependable place where you can understand your traumatic experiences, process them, and move past them. I have a unique, effective technique called EMDR that can help you recover from trauma and move past anxiety in a way that talk therapy often can’t. For more information about EMDR, click here.
